He has been interested in folk music from around the world since he was a student and is enthusiastic about traditional Japanese folk music and dance fieldwork.
He went to Sado for 10 years from 2003 and participated in "Taiko Performing Arts Group Kodo". While enrolled in Kodo, he was in charge of directing and composing performances and performances.
After becoming a solo artist, engaged in a wide range of activities that transcend genres, such as co-starring with dance music and classical music.
To date, he has performed more than 1000 times in 35 countries around the world.
From 2019, he will preside over "Waraku Soden" and open up the possibilities of Japanese music.

太鼓・笛・胡弓奏者。日本音楽作曲・演出家。
学生時代より世界の民族音楽に興味を持ち、日本の土着芸能のフィールドワークに励む。
2003から10年間、佐渡に渡り「太鼓芸能集団 鼓童」に参加。鼓童在籍中は演奏及び公演の演出や作曲を担当する。
鼓童独立後はダンス音楽やクラシック音楽との共演などジャンルを越えた活動も幅広く行う。
現在まで世界35カ国 累計1000公演以上の公演を果たす。
2019年より新たに※「和楽奏伝」を主宰、日本音楽の可能性拓く。

2022年 Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui演出 Noetic参加。Grand Theater Geneve 新作Ballet Ukiyo-E 世界ツアー開始。
2021年、オーチャードホール、先斗町歌舞練場にて「和楽奏伝×装束夢幻」演出、音楽監督。
2020年、スペインセビージャにてLucia Vazques、工藤聡と共にコンテンポラリーダンス作品「Hasekura」を発表。
2019年 瀬戸内芸術祭 [Setouchi the movie] 楽曲提供。
大阪万博プレゼンテー ション、パリでの演奏。
東日本大震災の記憶を未来に伝える為の盆踊り「奥羽綿津見盆踊」を発表。

2017 年、森山未來、Ella Rothschildとともに愛媛内子座にて「Judas,Christ with Soy」を 発表。バルセロナ「JAPAN MATSURI」音楽監督、バルセロナ盆踊り作曲、作舞。
